As many of you know, I don't quite believe in niching down 🙊but I want to clarify a problem that I see many business owners have around this whole idea of "niching down" or finding your "ideal client."

Do you know the difference between your audience, target audience, ideal client, and niche?

  • Audience - spectators, people who find you and consume your content (could be your grandma, could be a customer, but ideally they fall in a similar category for example entrepreneurs, moms)
  • Target audience - a group of people with similar demographics and psychographics that you create your content for. You are specifically targeting this group of people (ie. millennial women who want to grow their online business)
  • Ideal client - one specific person you want to work with/ dream client (ie. Esha is a 28 year old who has just started her coaching business and is addicted to cereal. She loves to go to brunch with her friends and scrolls the gram looking at biz inspo.)
  • Niche - what you do, who you do it for, and how (ie. CPAs who do taxes for the self-employed or VAs who do social media engagement for business coaches)
